Audley never left the game alone, but he did wander over to Rap’s relatives for a while. Having adopted a sound that lives somewhere between Soul and Funk on the majority of his forthcoming album, PINK, Audley’s new track “Cathedral” stands out as an exhibition of his rapping ability.
“[Cathedral] was my farewell to strictly rapping on tracks,” Audley explains. “But now, after some time obviously, I got the bug again and am ready to rip mics.”
The origin of Cathedral spans back a few years to when Audley met a Grove City, Pennsylvania producer of a similar name, Alexander Catedral (aka JustAPlaneKid). The two synced energy and eventually, Audley was sent the “Cathedral” instrumental.
“At first I just named the song ‘Cathedral’ to remember it was from Alex,” he recounts. “But over time, the song felt very big like one was in a cathedral, so the name stuck.”
The single is only a piece to a whole. Following the release of the lead single “Game Over” just after the new year, Audley is gearing up for the release of PINK on January 26th. The album comes as the cap on a trilogy of color-themed projects, following 2015’s DONNA and 2016’s THE DEEP END.
“I decided to be honest with myself and let the color speak for itself, because it has always been the driving force. PINK to me is my debut being 100% comfortable in my skin, and I hope that vulnerability and passion is enjoyed by everyone.”
PINK drops on Friday, January 26th.
